Marking a significant shift from the coins featuring the late Queen Elizabeth II, there is very little heraldic imagery - depictions of Britannia alongside shields and Royal family crests - on the new coinage. Historically, it has been commonplace for coins featuring the effigies of different monarchs to co-circulate in the UK and ensure a smooth transition, with minimal environmental impact and cost.The King is said to have had a personal hand in the design of the new coin collections and to be pleased with the final results.
